Sabine Rassow and her Koukouvagia

k1600_img_5090Koukouvagia (greek: owl) is a guardian. Following ancient celtic Steles (2800 – 2300 v. C.), which were found in the hinterland of Carrara and also in celtic settlements all over the Mediterranian region, I developed my guardian sculptures.

In the fast-moving times we were flood with information, but we often cannot recognize important social development. Considering that guardians are helpful to take care, that social development comes to our best. The owl as a symbol of wisdom already took care of humanity in the ancient world. As a nocturnal creature an owl perceives also sinister machinations that we do not notice.
